It has been my great privilege to know the author of this book for some years.
After serving as a Royal Marine Commando in Sicily,Italy,Yugoslavia,Greece and Albania he returned to his native Northamptonshire. Before the war he joined the police force and he returned here after his time in the forces.he rose steadily through the ranks until he became Detective Chief Superintendent. Holding many other important posts as his career progressed,
It was as an enthusiastic supporter of the writer H.E.Bates that I first met him however.He compiled a bibliography of this fine writer,and it is for this that he will perhaps be best remembered.
''Once Upon A Lifetime' tells of the early part of his life,mostly in my own home town and makes for me at least a very interesting read.… (meer)
