PREMIER EVENT: BARBARA EHRENREICH in conversation with ANGIE COIRO Barbara Ehrenreich in conversation with Angie Coiro Friday, April 25, 7:30 p.m. Living with a Wild God: A Nonbeliever's Search for the Truth about Everything Please join us for what's sure to be a fascinating evening with Barbara Ehrenreich in conversation with Angie Coiro. Barbara Ehrenreich is the bestselling author of Nickel and Dimed, Brightsided and Bait and Switch. In middle age, Ehrenreich came across the journal she had kept during her tumultuous adolescence and set out to reconstruct that quest, which had taken her to the study of science and through a cataclysmic series of uncanny-or as she later learned to call them, "mystical"-experiences. A staunch atheist and rationalist, she is profoundly shaken by the implications of her life-long search. Part memoir, part philosophical and spiritual inquiry, LIVING WITH A WILD GOD brings an older woman's wry and erudite perspective to a young girl's uninhibited musings on the questions that, at one point or another, torment us all. Angie Coiro is an award-winning journalist and interviewer, host of the syndicated In Deep radio show. Bay Area audiences know her from Live From the Left Coast/The Angie Coiro Show; KCSM-TV’s “Spotlight!”; KQED's Friday Forum; KGO radio; and for many years of news and traffic reporting around the dial. Angie co-founded the Tech Connects interview series at The Tech Museum of San Jose, currently in its second year. She has a parallel career as a voiceover talent, represented by JETalent in San Francisco. Tickets: $10 ($15 at the door.) They will be available soon at Kepler's. Barbara Ehrenreich, Living with a Wild God at the Cambridge Public Library, in conversation with John Summers Join Porter Square Books at the Cambridge Public Library for Barbara Ehrenreich in conversation with John Summers. Ehrenreich's most personal book ever will spark a lively and heated conversation about religion and spirituality, science and morality, and the "meaning of life." Living with a Wild God combines intellectual rigor with a frank account of the inexplicable, in Ehrenreich's singular voice, to produce a true literary achievement. Barbara Ehrenreich is the author of fourteen books, including the bestselling Nickel and Dimed and Bait and Switch. She lives in Virginia. John Summers is the editor in chief of The Baffler and founder and president of the Baffler Foundation. He’s the author of an essay collection, Every Fury on Earth, and editor of three collections of cultural criticism: The Politics of Truth: Selected Writings of C. Wright Mills, Dwight Macdonald’s Masscult and Midcult, and James Agee’s Cotton Tenants. He received his PhD in intellectual history from the University of Rochester in 2006. From 2000 to 2007 he taught social studies at Harvard University. He still lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Please Note: This is an offsite event at the Cambridge Public Library.
