I'm not exactly sure why, but I would label this a "cute" story. It took me a while to get into it. My main issue was the cute or silly names the authors chose: Alix, Geoff, Katryn, Roland "Rollie" de Beauvais, Paynton Whipple-Pruitt and Gregor Gorzynski. We did have Helen, but Helen Hall-Duncan so not just Helen as well as Chris (short for Christine), but we were missing Rocky (short for Rochelle or Raquel) and Sam (short for Samantha), clearly an unforgivable oversight. There is a Clyde, but thank god we are gifted the refined pronunciation "Cul-lyde." Theodore is allowed to go by "Ted," but why not just Ted and leave it at Ted. And Ted casually refers to Lieutenant Mendoza as "Eduardo," a familiarity not evidenced anywhere so Mendoza would have been more apt if not just "Lieutenant."

Weird gucci names aside as well as faux cultural airs, this is a simple story so not terribly taxing to read. The story ultimately turned out to be okay. Various historical tidbits throughout, and the art and literary history of Northern New Mexico sprinkled in made it very interesting: real cases of counterfeit Georgia O'Keeffe's, O'Keeffe's Ghost Ranch, and Mabel Dodge Luhan and the turn of the early-20th Century Taos art scene. This book even made Santa Fe sound interesting rather than a tourist smothered urban sprawl in the high desert.

Lee Ofsted's old golf instructor has had an accident and needs some help at his home course on the big island of Hawaii and Lee is more than happy to help out. Her friend Peg joins her as well as her soon to be husband Graham.

The private Golf club is celebrating its 100 anniversary but things aren't going well when the Chairman of the board is found dead just before revealing the secret of the sacred oath. Did someone not want that secret revealed or was there another reason?

I'm not a golfer but my husband is and when I read this series, I have to laugh because there is no way that a "real golfer" would ever get this involved with murder forsaking his game.

Entertaining and at times challenging.

Lee Ofsted has been struggling to move up the rankings of the lady professional golfers for several years managing to make enough money to play but not knowing how long she can do it with cheap motels, a car that's ready to give up the ghost and fast food. When she gets a call from Roger Finley the team captain for the Stewart Cup competition telling her that she has won the lottery position for the Stewart Cup event. Roger Finley is notably one of the best players of the day but has been having some difficulties of late. Lee will be Roger's partner and is extremely nervous that she will not have a good showing.

At the event, not only has Finley's caddie been murdered, but there has been an attempt on Lee's life as well. But why? Could it be the competition or is it more devious?

I really enjoy this series since my husband is an avid golfer. It gives me an insight to his passion. It is well written and the characters are interesting to follow.

Lee Ofsted has a chance to make some easy money on a week when she thought she'd just be waiting around for the next tournament. She's been asked to fill in as a pitch and putt coach on Block Island for the executives of a local salvage company on a small 9 hole course with treacherous compact greens and wicked sea breezes. Things seem a bit strange for Lee after she thwarts an attemoted kidnapping of the sponsors wife and then he turns up dead. Considering that the access to the island is limited to ferry or plane, Lee knows that the killer has to be close.

I get a kick out of the idea of a professional golfer being zoned in on finding murderers. Fun series to to read.
