Tool Box on the Wing door Geoffrey Ellis
A wonderful memoir of an Erk's life in the RAF and RNZAF between the wars. The author was a Trenchard Brat, training at Cranwell in 1923/4, serving in the UK, Sudan and Egypt before transferring to the RNZAF in 1933. The WW2 period, in New Zealand and the Pacific, is also well covered but, to this reader anyway, not as interesting.
Review in 'Cross & Cockade', Spring 1984: "Undoubtedly the most enjoyable chapters are those relating to his years in the RAF ... he was clearly a very good mechanic ... A really good read."
