Korte biografie
Andrew (Andrievs) Ezergailis was born in Rite Parish, Latvia. He fled the country with his family in 1944 during World War II, ultimately emigrating to the USA in 1949. He completed his undergraduate degree at Michigan State University and received a PhD from New York University. He began teaching at Ithaca College's Department of History in 1964 and remained there for the rest of his career. In 1957, he married Inta Miske, a professor of German literature, with whom he had a daughter. His books included The Holocaust in Latvia, 1941-44: The Missing Center, the first comprehensive history of this topic. He was a long-time member of the Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies. In 2007, he was awarded one of Latvia's highest honors, the Order of the Three Stars, for his contributions to the understanding of the history of the country.
