Ian Falconer was born in Ridgefield, Connecticut on August 25, 1959. He studied art history at New York University and painting at Parsons School of Design and Otis Art Institute. He is a writer and artist who has illustrated many covers of The New Yorker magazine. He has also designed sets and toon meer costumes for the New York City Ballet, the San Francisco Opera, and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Olivia, his first children's picture book, received many awards including the Caldecott Honor in 2001. He has published several more picture books about Olivia including Olivia Saves the Circus, Olivia Forms a Band, Olivia Helps with Christmas, and Olivia Goes to Venice. Olivia's mom makes her a red soccer shirt (even though she won't match her teammates) because she doesn't like green. *rolls eyes* I know Olivia is supposed to be charming and endearing, but I just don't like her.

Two Dogs door Falconer Ian

This book was about two dogs who have opposite personalities. It is cute, but there is not a huge storyline. I would say this is okay for Preschool-1st grade. I would probably not explicitly teach this in class, since I don't see a lot of educational value, but I would have this in my classroom library if I were a teacher for students to independently read.
