Summary: This book is about Hydroplanes, what they are, what they are used for, and what the different parts of them are called. This book also goes into detail info the types of races these vehicles go into, and how brave/crazy the drivers have to be to operate them because of the danger.
Review: this book is a chapter book divided up int short chapters about different parts of hydroplane information. The book and the chapters themselves are short, so more in-depth knowledge would have to be found elsewhere.

This book is not really full of very much information. Even though Von Finn writes non-fiction books, many of them give much more information than this one did. It talks about motor cycle drag becoming a very popular sport. Many amateur racers use their street bikes to perform in races. Drag racing motorcyles are some of the fastest motorcycles in the world. The drag bikes need about one mile in length to race. Pro Stock motorcycles are built for drag racing. The drag races usually take place on a drag strip.

I wouldn't recommend this book. It had a few interesting points but it seemed to repeat itself and didn't give a lot of useful information.… (meer)

Grades 2-4

Students looking for all things military will enjoy this series. Similar in scope to the "U.S. Military" series (see review of Army Night Stalkers), this series focuses on the various means of transportation that the military uses. Each 2-page spread includes dramatic photographs with 2 or 3 sentences of text. Labels are used where necessary, and while photographs are not captioned, dialog boxes called "Stealth Bomber Fact" are interspersed every few pages. A chart gives the specs of the B-2 Stealth Bomber. Photographs reflect no cultural diversity... each of the soldiers pictured is a young white male. Pages 8 and 9 announce a little too cheerfully, "The pilots spot the enemy base. They drop bombs and turn for home. It is another successful mission!" with a picture of a huge explosion accompanying the text.
