I enjoyed this book. I think the pitch was correct to get me excited. I really loved the hunger games story with a magic twist. I also enoyed that we got so many differnt POV characters. I felt like it was also a super quick listening. I think because this was the first book in the series some of the major story elemets lacked tension and the characters somtimes through audio bleneded together!! But i will def read book 2 soon!!

I really enjoyed this read. I thought it was a super quick read. I thought this book was a nice balance between the last fallen star but also fantastic beasts in a a sense. I also really liked that this book had some surprising twists and turns that I did not predict or see coming. I really liked the trio of characters that was the focus and liked the adult presents in this read as well. I also really enjoyed the world buiding as well and will def be checking out the sequel in the future.
This book I really did enjoy the world. I loved all the various magic workers but both the pacing and the characters I struggled with. I had such a hard time becoming emotionally invested in the characters. I wanted to love them but i struggled to feel connected to them. The pacing of the book even thought it had elements of murder mystery the pacing felt off. I liked the illustrations but wanted more elements of that tied into the novel. Overall, i loved the world building but did not feel as connected to the characters as i wanted to be.… (meer)
