The island ponies, an environmental study of their life on Assateague by Ford_ Barbara - Keiper_ Ronald R
Interesting studies from the park service about the ponies and if they are harmful or should remain by themselves on the natural island.
Fascinating to see the wild ponies in a movie off the coast of NC. Starts with history then follows the lifes from birth to death.
Barrier islands tend to protect the mainland from damage from winds and waters. Blind horses were used in mines because they didn't need to see.
Liked hearing of other animals on the island.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Ford, Barbara. The Most Wonderful Movie in the World. New York: Dutton Children’s Books, 1996.

Written for children in grades 4-6, Barbara Ford’s The Most Wonderful Movie in the World revolves around the fascination 11-year-old Moira Flynn has with her favorite book Gone With the Wind. Interestingly enough, Moira’s new parish priest is the one who challenges the class to “think outside of the box” of religious tradition and encourages Moira to recognize the difference between following conscience and blindly adhering to the rulings of a religious organization. The character of Moira is very believable and the depiction of the Catholic Church is accurate. Set in the World War II era, The Most Wonderful Movie in the World is a classic “coming-of-age” story in which Moira, the main character, discovers boys and learns about the necessity of thinking for one’s self and making personal decisions.… (meer)
