Elaine Ford (1938–2017)

Elaine Ford was born in White Plains, New York on December 12, 1938. She received a bachelor's degree from Harvard University in 1964. Her first novel, The Playhouse, was published in 1980. Her other novels include Monkey Bay, Missed Connections, Ivory Bright, and Life Designs. Her short-story toon meer collections include The American Wife and This Time Might Be Different: Stories from Maine. The couple moved to Maine in 1985, and Ms. Ford began She taught creative writing and literature at the University of Maine at Orono from 1985 until her retirement in 2005.
