All my experience with the author's works have never been less than positive, however it should be noted that page after page of this book is devoted tables condensing down the service and fate of each individual "Draken" built, and this might be dry subject matter for a lot of readers.

There is no denying that the title is truth in advertising, as Forslund gives the reader what seems to be a complete history of how the Swedish government procured the bomber and strike aircraft it did during the period in question. What is distinctive about this book, as compared to most of the products of this publisher, is that Forslund writes with rather more personality than is typically the case. Such as when wryly noting that the FIAT machines that were the first bombers procured by Sweden were acquired to facilitate covert German ordnance testing, or speaking of the travails induced by the emergency acquisition of Caproni light bombers in 1941, when all other sources of supply were cut off.… (meer)

A couple of minor quibbles,
1. I don't expect this binding to have a long life time.
2. I would have liked an illustration or photograph of the engine intake installation as I've never heard of a centrifugal installation having enough power to suck someone into the intake.(MiG-15,same problem?)
3. Some illustrations aren't very sharp. But, in my opinion this does not impact overall quality of the book.
Overall?
This is my second purchase of a MMP Books publication. The first, Japanese Aero-Engines 1910-1945 was enough to make me look at this book on the Tunnan. The next will be on the Fairey Barracuda. MMP is hitting the oddball or lesser known subjects and thus far in my opinion is knocking the ball out of the park. (Especially at their price point.)
At 6.4 x 0.6 x 8.9 inches and around 190 pages, it's not a large volume. However, it is indeed a book and not a monograph. All I can say is wow!
There is good coverage of development and service and for the S/N hounds there is a list including disposition of every SAAB 29 built. The technical coverage is excellent and the book is lavishly illustrated with profiles, photographs and technical illustrations. There are a few typo's, and I say who cares? This is a product of multi-national team and their efforts resulted in an outstanding volume at any price. To say that I am pleased is an understatement. If you have an interest in aircraft of this era, I unequivocally and strongly recommend this book without any reservations.

Besides being a good overview of the prop-driven fighter in Swedish service this book also features some of the best color art that I've ever seen; and that's saying a lot since this publisher is known for this. Perhaps the most interesting story related is that of how Stockholm scrambled to generate a fighter force once the machines ordered in the United States were not delivered. The gap being fulfilled by locally-built and Italian aircraft; the Reggiane Re.2000 being particularly notorious for dubious reliability. The irony here is that the Italian fighters were mostly replaced by P-51 Mustangs! Still, the Italian aircraft were probably not the worst aircraft operated by the Swedes; that honor would seem to go to the time-expired Mosquito night fighters that Sweden operated after the war. It's perhaps telling that the Swedes did not bother to preserve a Mosquito for their museum program.… (meer)
