This is a great resource for Lent and Easter activities for the Catholic Family. I've run into some activity books in this vein that were very basic and not very inspiring. I can't wait to put these items into practice and am sure that they will be part of our family traditions for years to come.

I run the Sunday School for a small Anglo-Catholic Episcopalian church. We use a customized lectionary based curriculum supplemented with a take-home sheet with ideas for families to use to integrate our traditions, scripture readings, and worship into our daily lives. I liked the resources at domestic-church.com (especially the Fridge Art web pages) and I bought Easter and Lent along with the companion book Advent, Christmas & Episphany so that I could replicate some of their projects for our families. I also own and use a separate book from a different source, All Through the Day, All Through the Year: Family Prayers and Celebrations.

My background is not Roman Catholic or Episcopalian and I found the website and book to be very helpful in educating me about some of the reasoning and history behind our similar practices. The simple explanations, geared for children, allowed me to explore the work at different levels with both children and adults.

There are parts of the book that I would not use as they do not correspond the practices of our Parish but I found most of the art, craft, prayer, song, and activity ideas helpful and easy to incorporate. I used the Stations of the Cross in this book to help me develop an interactive Stations of the Cross for children in our community. I especially like that this book and domestic-church.com are in line with the belief (my own personal and our Parish) that the spiritual lives of children are valid and as important as those of adults.
