The Physics of Football is a very good book so far. The point is to teach basic physics through concrete examples from the gridiron as opposed to more abstract textbook examples of billiard balls (perfectly elastic and frictionless of course) and falling weights. I think it would be a great book for a younger reader who can do some basic algebra but hasn't gotten to more advanced applied maths. The lessons are specific and famous plays like The Catch and the Immaculate Reception as well as a sprinkling of the funny. I especially liked the section titled 'Surely You're Juking'. The Physics of Baseball which I read last year was more of a baseball book for physics readers (by Robert Kemp Adair), the opposite side of the spectrum.… (meer)
