Before I read this book, the only knowledge I had about Pocahontas was based off of the Disney movie. Now I know that she was a famous peacemaker, lived in America before it was a country, her real name was Motaoka, she hunted, fished and farmed, as well as saving the life of John Smith. The organization of this book is wonderful, as there is a table of contents, each page ahs a title at the top to introduce the topic, and the picture are, for the most part, separated from the words.

The story of Pocahontas tells of a young girl who wanted nothing but peace. She was a Native American woman who supposedly saved the life of John Smith because she feared her father would kill him. This book tells the story of her life, her actions, and travels. It shows how she became famous, and how the settlement of Jamestown started to grow. In my opinion this book was fairly boring. It did not tell the story in an exciting way. Although the information is true and proved with a timeline in the back of the book, I feel as though the author could have challenged their more creative side to tell Pocahontas's story.… (meer)

I read Pocahontas and one important thing I learned about her was Jamestown grew very big because of her. Some interesting facts about Pocahontas is she is a peacemaker. She was an American Indian and daughter of Chief Powhatan. She saved the life of John Smith who was the leader of Jamestown. She was the first American Indian Christian. She married John Rolfe and had a son with him. This book was very accurate. The events that happen in Pocahontas' life is in chronological order in this book.

I've never heard of the Pocahontas legend till now. No one know if it's true or not, but Pocahontas saved John Smith's life by begging a Chief not to kill him. I also didn't know she was kidnaped (I need to watch the movie now). They settlers who kidnapped her turned her into and English Christian lady. She died at such a young age, 22. I learned so much new information about Pocahontas in this book.
