It was about a squirrel toon meer lost in the woods. The editors sent a form rejection letter, possibly because it was not very realistic for a squirrel to be lost in the woods. But this began her literary career of getting creatures (especially human creatures) into peril, and letting them figure out how to get themselves out again. She is best known for her Home repair is Homicide Series. Her titles include: Knockdown, Crawlspace, A Face in the Window, and A Bat in the Belfry. (Bowker Author Biography) toon minder

She used to work for the mob but now she works in the family bakery and lives with her husband, parents, kids, grands, and dogs in an elderly house that is very much straining at the seams. An island neighbor needs help to find a missing husband who might be lost at sea, so Jake (Jacobia) and Ellie
begin an investigation that leads to missing treasure, shark attack, border problems, and even worse!
It kept my nose to the page (figuratively) right to the twisty end!

Jake and Ellie have been running the Chocolate Moose for several years and suddenly across the street a rival chocolatier has opened up a shop. He has been slurring the Chocolate Moose merchandise as inferior and stealing customers. N9ot surprising he turns up dead but was is surprising the murder weapon belonged to Ellie. Jake has to work hard to find the real killer and clear her friend.

Just plain yummy!

To enjoy her books, you have to accept that this isn't a cozy mystery. Rather, it's a cozy thriller. And since it's still a cozy, you have to suspend disbelief. It's akin to watching something like Dukes of Hazzard. It's not high drama or even high comedy but if you accept it as such, you'll just relax, take a backseat and go along for the ride.

That said, there's one thing that bothers me. Spoiler alert.

If Billy really did experience Alvin chasing him around despite having an ax to his head. That's just too unbelievable. Even for this series.… (meer)

This 6th book in the Death by Chocolate series is another solid installment. I like the characters in all six of the books, Jake and Ellie, the co-owners of The Chocolate Moose in Eastport, Maine, and their families and friends are terrific characters.

However, in this book, the plot seemed to be unnecessarily convoluted, though not so much so to stop me from continuing with the series.

I enjoy this series and would recommend it to cozy fans.
