Consciousness: Creeping up on the Hard Problem door Jeffrey Gray
Well thought work on correlates of consciousness from a neuroscientist biew presented in a technical but accessible language.
The kind of turgid writing (by a psychology professor, in this case) that makes you want to stop reading and do a crossword puzzle instead. At least he fully rejects dualism, unlike the originator (Chalmers) of the term "Hard Problem." I liked the chapter on possible quantum involvement: "So we should not write the Penrose-Hameroff position off too lightly. And even an account in principle of how qualia might arise is better than no account at all." (p 259)
