My initial response to this book was to be underwhelmed, as it mostly seemed to be a rehash of other authors' works. Once I really got into it though I concluded that it was a very good synthesis of the existing literature on the machine. Since the author apparently comes out of the endeavor of restoring and keeping vintage military vehicles running (the numerous pictures of surviving Panther tanks is one of the main attractions here), a consideration of just what is involved in these restorations might have made a good book great; though it could be argued that this is implicit in the detailed consideration of the the design and technical flaws of the Panther.… (meer)

I really enjoyed this pictoral history of Pattons portion in WW2. The photos were beyond the standard photos and captured some real feelings about what was going on. There was a great balance between very informative narrative and pictures...enough to keep you interested in both at the same time, without feeling like you want to skip ahead to look at pics only.
The book was laid out well, not too long, not too short, but enough to tell the story, but tell it in a way that remains interesting and doesnt get lost in the tall weeds along the way.
To be honest, I have not given this much attention to many war pictoral books over the years, but gave my attention to this one and was very well rewarded.
I enjoyed the book and it is a great addition to my library.
