Since first reading "Left Fur Dead" I have enjoyed the character of Juliette (Jules for short) Bridge and adorable Bun, the bunny that Jules can communicate with via mental telepathy. Jules is the owner of Fur Bridge Farm in Windermere, New Hampshire, and has created a sanctuary for abused domestic rabbits. She also raises rabbits and it's fun to learn that Petra is pregnant. The title of the cozy reflects the "Hop ’Til You Drop event and egg hunt" that Jules will be working at as a volunteer. But in the midst of Jules hiding Easter eggs for the hunt Bun decides to go off on his own exploring but shortly rushes back and implores Jules to follow him to view his discovery.

All of the secondary characters that have endeared this charming series to readers delightfully continue as part of this series! One of the things that I enjoy about this series is that it is not merely a cozy with an investigation but there are also interesting developments at the farm that highlight Juliette's business savvy and the growth and development of her employees.

In one conversation it was difficult to understand why Juliette's friend Bailey says, "This might be the start of a great partnership." Juliette and Bailey have had an ongoing partnership of doing children's birthday parties together. At another time, I didn't find it plausible that there is a grandfather clock in the barn. There is also a disconnect between Chapter 21 and Chapter 23. In Chapter 21, Juliette indicates that Bun will not accompany her and Jess to a presentation they are doing at the college. In Chapter 23, Bun accompanies the women with no explanation for Juliette's change of mind.

But disconnects aside, I hope this series continues as I'd love to read another.

Juliette Bridge (Jules for short) is the owner of Fur Bridge Farm in Windermere, New Hampshire. Juliette raises bunnies and finds good homes for them as well as providing care for bunnies needing rescue from deplorable situations. There is one little rescue named Bun that lives in the house with Juliette. Bun is not only great company but communicates with Juliette via mental telepathy and his communications are in italicized font throughout the cozy.

One of Juliette’s incomes for the farm is entertaining children at birthday parties with the bunnies but at the current party before the birthday cake is served guests are hurriedly being escorted off the property. And this time Sheriff Jack Carver is actually asking for Juliette’s help instead of telling her to stay out of his investigation. Bun is ready to sleuth with Juliette as he loves to remind Juliette of his superpowers and keen senses. However, Juliette isn’t sure when there will be time to investigate as in addition to the work at the farm she has also entered Petra, another of her rabbits in the 1st local rabbit show. She and Bun would never have guessed that there would be a connection between the birthday party and the rabbit show. As the list of suspects increased this investigation became more complicated.

I love Juliette and Bun. Juliette loves her rabbits and gives them excellent care and is a kind and considerate employer. Bun is an adorable rabbit and I delight in the conversations between the two particularly when they’re in investigative mode or when Bun is hungry.

This series is simply charming! So don’t snoozle (nod off to sleep with a drooping head and twitching eyelids and nose) like a rabbit and scamper off to read ”Who's Dead, Doc?”

I was scrolling through suggested titles on Kindle Unlimited on Easter Monday and on the cover peeking over the kitchen table is the cutest looking black-and-white bunny that looked quite excited about the garden salad on the table until he or she perhaps noted the blood oozing out from under a tomato slice. I peeked up at the title, "Left Fur Dead" and had to know more about this book. I didn't recognize the author's name and as I've challenged myself to read more novels by authors "new-to-me" it seemed an adorable springtime choice.

As I began reading Chapter 1, I learned it’s March in New Hampshire, and it sounded like the cold, snowy, windy March we just experienced this winter in Pennsylvania. I was hoping for a springtime setting but as I had to know more about the bunny I continued reading. The bunny named ”Bun” lives with Juliette Bridge (known as Jules to family, friends, and locals) on Fur Bridge Farm. As I read that Jules and Bun are able to communicate through mental telepathy I instantly felt I was in for quite a reading adventure.

Jules had a very traumatic experience and in helping her heal she now rescues domestic rabbits that have been abused and has created a sanctuary at the farm. Due to Bun's unique qualities he lives in the farmhouse with Jules. The cozy is absolutely charming with unusual twists as the suspect list seems to grow rather than shorten. I loved the character of Jules for the strength of her character, her dedication to building her business, her kindness as an employer, her thoughtfulness as a friend, her interest in her community, her willingness to help another young woman bring her dreams to reality and especially her love and care of the rabbits on the farm. And that cute bunny on the cover? I could empty a thesaurus to describe Bun. All of his communications to Jules are in italicized font throughout the novel and he is a little gem. But fair warning: It's hard to contain one's laughter when Bun shares his thoughts when Jules jogs and his expressions when he's hungry.

So even though it's the end of winter in New Hampshire, if your spirits need a lift this spring, I highly recommend a visit to Fur Bridge Farm to meet Jules and Bun. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.

The publisher's blurb is pretty good for starters, but the mystery is well crafted and full of twists and red herrings that hold the reader's interest from beginning to end. Bun is an intelligent and fun pet bunny who communicates with Jules (who has a bunny rescue farm and entertainment business) telepathically. This time Jules and friends are involved involved in a special Easter egg hunt and Jules is the one who finds the first body. And the second as well. I really loved this one, too!
I requested and received a free ebook copy from Kensington Books via NetGalley. Thank you!
