I loved this book. Each of the speeches chosen deserves it's place, and the whole collection together gives a very interesting portrait of Canada. What I found fascinating was that, when compared to my other book of "Historic Speeches", far far fewer speeches were made by generals and rulers, about war and revolution and anger and spite, and way more by artists and thinkers. This seems pretty obvious, seeing as how Canada is hardly famous for it's generals, and yet it gives a much more rounded out picture of society.
