Dennis Gruending

Dennis Gruending was born in Saskatchewan. He is a former Member of Parliament from that province. While in the House of Commons, Gruending served as his party's caueus critic for the Environment and for International Development. He is the author/editor of seven books, including biographies of toon meer Allan Blakeney, and Emmett Hall; Great Canadian Speechs; Gringo - Poems and Journals from Latin America; and The Middle of Nowhere, a non-fiction anthology about Saskatchewan from fur trade to present day. Gruending holds an Honours degree in English literature, and a Masters in Journalism. He is married, with two children, travels widely, and continues to practise his unadulterated passion for language, and the power of the word. His current place of residence is Ottawa, Ontario. toon minder

Not all the speeches were examples of great oratory (though many were). A more apt title might be "Important Canadian Speeches" -- but that wouldn't sell as well, I suspect.
The speeches are arranged chronologically, with the last being from 2002. I would love a second edition which brought us to Canada's 150th anniversary.… (meer)
