Hotel Angeline: A Novel in 36 Voices door Garth Stein
This was so interesting as it was written in 2 hour increments by so many authors who wrote in a public setting one after the other. I wanted to write a chapter, too. More of a read for how a book could be a collective writing and for the experience.
I am having a very difficult time getting past the main character. The book is written in the first person and I find that person very unlikable.
She lacks character. From her marital infidelity to her absolute lack of work ethic she irritates me.
I did not enjoy listening to the thoughts and excuses of this miserable self-absorbed character.
The book deserves two stars because it is well written. However it is not at all funny as the book jacket quotes promise.

A lightweight, quick read with a good dose of humor. The heroine has just been dumped by her boyfriend and she's having a hard time getting over it. She "just happens" to drive by his house, sees his dog in the back yard and before she knows it, steals the dog. The story moves on from there as she deals with a mother who remarries, a sister whose marriage is struggling, and a potential new boyfriend.....and through it all, this dog that she doesn't really want but can't figure out how to return. Entertaining - probably a good summer read. (read to fill a category for the 2015 Reading Challenge -humorous)… (meer)
