Shadowrun is set in the Sixth World; along with mega-corporations that dominate the world, the remnants of countries struggling to survive and retain power, and a virtual reality computer matrix is magic. Magic that returned when the Dragons awoke in 2012. The different races are offshoots of base humanity, triggered when enough magic had return to the world. Characters are Runners; deniable assests hired by various shady organization (including, and especially, mega-corps) to complete tasks under the table, as it were.
