This book is so funny! I didn't make any of the recipes, but I was thoroughly entertained by the antics of Jessica Harper, husband Tom Rothman, and family. The premise is that you're a crabby cook so she's going to show you how to tackle cooking without getting TOO crabby and actually (sometimes) having fun doing it. Each recipe has a story in front of it. Very entertaining.

The little boy in the story is having trouble with moving to a new place. The book rhymes and can be used as an intro to poetry for young grades. I notice the parents did not speak very much and the boy had to come to the realization on his own of the move not being such a bad idea.

This was such a precious book. The little boy in the story is having trouble reconciling the fact that his family has to move to a new place. He doesn't want to leave but when he does he realizes that everything is okay and new adventures await. The author uses simple, casual language along with rhyming words that help to keep the story light and playful. Students can use this book to help them learn how to incorporate conversational language and rhyming words into their writing.

I Like Where I Am is about a little boy who is not happy about moving. He is worried there will be no other house like his house, no other street like his street, no other friends like his friends. The entire time the move is taking place he is not happy and questioning why move to Little Rock anyway?!? He doesn't realize that everything he has at his current house he can also have at his new house. While it was cute, I wish the book would have had the parents explain the move to him as he seemed very nervous about it. The book doesn't say their reason for moving and in my opinion if they would have explained it to him maybe it would have been less opposition to the move. No-one, in my opinion, helped him cope.… (meer)
