Korte biografie
Ken Haycock was born in 1948 and attended school in Hamilton and London where he obtained his B.A. in political science from the University of Western Ontario in 1968 and Dip.Ed. in 1969. He began his career as a secondary school history teacher and teacher-librarian. In 1972, he moved to Guelph to become educational media specialist with the Wellington County Board of Education. he also served as a public library trustee, his local union president, established a special library, completed his A.M.L.S. at the University of Michigan and was elected president of the Canadian School Library Association. In 1976 he become coordinator for the Vancouver School Board’s more than one hundred school libraries, district resource services and special libraries. In 1992, he returned to librarianship as a tenured professor, and director of the School of Library, Archival and Information Studies at the University of British Columbia on a five-year contract; in 1997, he accepted a five-year reappointment. In 2002 he chose to move to full-time teaching, research and service as a faculty member. He is currently professor and director of the School of Library and Information Science at San José State University.
