Korte biografie
Emjay Haze is a pen name for a wife, mother, and writer of gay romance. She resides in Northern Virginia with her husband, two teenagers, a new puppy, cat, gecko, and several fish. She always loved writing and fell in love with the genre seven years ago after discovering the world of fanfiction. She went back to school to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing from SNHU where she graduated in April, 2015, with a renewed desire of making her dreams of becoming a published author come true.

She has a wide and diverse work history in the fields of travel, hotel management, high-tech communications, web development, real estate, and the nonprofit health care industry where she has held positions such as travel agent, hotel concierge, web programmer, Realtor, account manager, and many, many others, giving her a varied and unique set of experiences that she draws upon in her stories and characters. Her interests include music and pop culture, and she is an advocate for the LGBT community.

Her stories delve into all types of romantic relationships, regardless of sexuality, with a focus on first times and new encounters in a lighthearted style with a goal to gain a diverse readership and broaden the minds of those who might not normally pick up an LGBTQ romance because it’s more about the person than the sexuality. She’ll take you on a roller-coaster journey, but you’ll always get a happy ending.

This sweet story should have been a full fleshed out novel. Ms. Haze gave us more of an outline which satisfied but could have been so much more. I loved the characters and the backdrop for the story.

Alex works on wall street, but is relatively miserable. He doesn't love his job, and he really wants to be a chef. The only reason he isn't a chef is because his parents wanted him to do something bigger with his life. He likes his co-workers and is a great leader; he's good at his job. He just doesn't love it. Nick is a grad student working toward being a teacher. He is also a waiter at a gay club. He doesn't have a relationship with his family anymore, but he is working towards his dream and loving it. Nick and Alex connect immediately, and are looking for the same thing-a relationship.

There was a light overall feel to the book, and pretty much no angst. I was waiting for something bad to happen once we hit 50-75% but it never came. It was a book where Alex and Nick fell in love, communicated, and worked together. The secondary characters (the girls from the office, Andrea, and Mrs. T) were awesome. I enjoyed them a lot.

I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC received from IndiGo Marketing & Design

In a tale that reminded me of the Love Boat series (on TV more years ago than I’d like to admit), Warren and Fletcher end up in the kind of romance that cruises, sunshine, and great entertainment seem to encourage. Both men have had a hard time in the past, and it was great to see them bond – even if the speed they went at was whirlwind-plus – if not faster.

Warren lost his wife to cancer, and even though he was very happy with her and loved her a lot, two years later he is ready to date again. His grown kids agree and decide to send him on a singles cruise. He wants to be with a man this time – he’s known he is bisexual since college and there is no woman who could replace his wife. It’s an interesting concept, and by the time he meets Fletcher on the flight to Miami, Warren is pretty sure that he has made the right decision.

Fletcher is a professional mystery shopper who gets paid for rating airlines, hotels, and cruises. His almost-constant travel is the reason for his breakup with his fiancé – the man decided to cheat on Fletcher while he was gone – and Fletcher, understandably, did not like that. Now Fletcher finds himself falling for Warren even though he isn’t sure that is the right thing – but as he keeps telling himself, Warren is not his ex.

If you like your romances to proceed at breakneck speed, if a cruise sounds like a great setting for some hot action between two men who want love in their lives, and if you’re looking for a read that is entertaining, hot, and has a happy ending, then you might like this short story.

NOTE: The anthology this story was published in has been provided by Torquere Press for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews.
