Lisa-Ann travels to Lubbock to find Orville Bellingham who stole her money and killed her dog. She misses Orville but manages to get arrested by Sheriff Wes Alington. She must stay in jail until the circuit judge comes in a week. She tells her story on the stand. Wes then realizes he is in love with her. Does she feel the same way? Will he be able to win her over?

I had so much fun reading this. I chuckled as we meet Lisa-Ann and watch her and Wes banter. I enjoyed the characters. Lisa-Ann and Wes were made for each other. They are opposites and looking for different things, but love finds a way. I liked how Wes learns at the end to allow Lisa-Ann to do what she wants, that making her happy is the best way for a happy life for everyone involved.

She has tracked down the man who done her wrong but also finds the man of her dreams. Colorful back woods dialogue and interesting characters make this novel one not to let gallop away. A copy of this book was provided to me by Kensington Books via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

With a trial, penalty and money to pay back she is stuck in town for some time and during that time love and other things find her.

I had hopes for this novella and love to read books by new-to-me authors but for some reason I found this book unbelievable, silly and rather shallow. That said – I know there are people who enjoy a good “spoof” of a story with a bit of a twist so would recommend it to those readers even though it is not a story that I really enjoyed.
