This could be an original take on the vampire tale....but it isn't. For as creative as del Toro's movies can be, this does not seem to have that. This was a slight improvement on the tv series, but it is a pretty dull read, even just listening to it. It could easily be a DNF, I just don't care if I walk out of the room with it playing for a few minutes.

Started well, was extremely filmic in style (which is suspect is wherer Del Toro comes in) reads like and episode of the X files. But is too long. Could have been edited better, the sheer amount of words begins to drag on the otherwise addictive narrative. It's the first novel with an actual clear cut narrative I've read in a while and this actually came as a welcome relief.

Por este libro sus autores no ganarán un premio Nobel de literatura, pero cumple sobradamente con la función de entretener. Aunque previsible en algunas ocasiones y con un argumento y narración que parecen prepararlo para una serie de televisión, logra mantener el interés de forma continua durante todo el libro, haciéndote querer leer siempre una página más antes de tener que parar.

Absolutely stunning novel! I loved the gradual unfolding of just how deep everything goes throughout. Odessa gives me Agent Scully vibes on more than just the FBI level, with her constant search for the truth tempting her closer to the unknown than she's comfortable with. I'm dying to know more about Hugo Blackwood, I haven't looked yet, but by god I hope this becomes a series!
