This is a reprint of the 1867 book. The first 6 chapters are OK but then it goes county by county talking about the mining. If you're a geologist you might enjoy it. I couldn't get through that part. I'll keep this for reference.

Eyewitness account of the New Mexico campaign of the American Civil War. Ovando J. Hollister served in the Colorado Volunteers which cut Sibley's 3000-man Texas Brigade to pieces in the Confederacy's effort to block the flow of gold to the Northern Cause. Hollister is a sergeant writing from his astonishing diary for soldiers after he was invalided out of the unit.
