Very informative, lots of silly jokes, fairly annoying main character. Because it tries to balance accurate information about bees while still providing entertainment, the writing is somewhat forced, but the illustrations are very detailed and the information is excellent. A good way to encourage reading non-fiction/informational books.

Hosler drew on Santiago's memoir to portray a rambunctious boy who loved drawing but also got into plenty of hilarious scrapes pursuing what he loved. Most readers will not have heard of Santiago Ramon y Cajal but by book's end he will become a historical figure as memorable and lively as the class cutup.… (meer)
