Over de Auteur

Donna Ingham is an award-winning tale teller and author from Spicewood, Texas. She has written six books about the Lone Star State and performs as a professional storyteller all over the country. She also has the dubious distinction of having been named the Biggest Liar in Austin and the Biggest toon meer Liar in Texas. Artist Paul Hoffman trained in painting and printmaking, with his first extensive illustration work on assignment in Egypt, drawing ancient wall reliefs for the University of Chicago. His work graces books of many genres: children's titles, textbooks, short story collections, natural history volumes, and numerous cookbooks. He lives in Greenfield, Massachusetts. toon minder

For the most part, I enjoyed the stories in this book. It was a nice collection of stories I had heard while growing up in Texas, with a few stories that were new to me thrown in. However, I have one major problem with this book: I strongly resent the implication that for a Texan to understand Greek mythology, it needs to be "Texanized." I had no problems understanding the stories as Bullfinch or Hamilton told them. That said, I was amused that Persephone only had to spend 3 months a year in the underworld in Ingham's "Texanized" version, versus 6 months in Bullfinch's version.… (meer)
