The Night #1
This paranormal romance with a bit of urban fantasy feel to it has werewolves with a bit different mythology than previous books I have read and has a plot that poses issues that were also an interesting surprise.
The story begins in Klamath Falls, Oregon with Grace Holtz working in a credit union after breaking away from her werewolf den in Seattle, Washington. The matriarch of her pack had big dynastic plans for Grace that were not in keeping with her own, so she left. Marcus Bowen, an important man from her past, surprises her after a long time apart and requests her help…a request that she ignores…until she can’t.
Great introduction to a new series that has me wanting to know what happens next. I enjoyed reading about how the change occurs for the werewolves, the differences and similarities they have to other werewolves I have read stories about, the bitten versus born differentiation and its impact on the characters, the twists and turns and surprises, being able to thoroughly dislike the bad guys while wishing bad things would happen to them, and the relationship between Grace and Marcus.
This is a new-to-me author that I would gladly read again and look forward to reading the next book in the series when it is available.
Thank you to NetGalley and Booksirens for the ARC – This is my honest review.
