En meget engelsk bog, hvor man kan klippe ud og lime, så man får 14 forskellige små æsker. Bogen er lavet i noget lidt kraftigt pap, så man får nogle stabile og relativt holdbare æsker ud af det.

I assembled the three models. The moon globe is straightforward and satisfying. The other two models are interesting. I enjoyed assembling them and working with them. The mini-book is a tiny bit incoherent and several pages of its discussion of tides were more or less incomprehensible to me. Otherwise I would have given the book five stars. It's not a straightforward task to come up with the ideas for the models (except in the case of moon globe), and then there is the work of implementation. One of a kind!

Note: It turns out that the equation of time changes a good bit as the years go by, so the equation of time reference card is certainly obsolete.

Project: Figure out how these models were layed out by the authors, so that I could lay them out myself.

The completed model is over two feet tall. Being paper it would blow away in any breeze. Its straightforward structure makes it easy to construct. The mini-book is enjoyable. The mobile is pretty much useless and I do not expect to bother with it.

This book is fascinating. I checked it out from the library, so obviously did not actually construct the models. Each of the models gets a little card explaining facts about the particular shape, and the colours are chosen to emphasize interesting properties of the model. Most, but not all of the models are shown on the cover. The design is extremely clever and thorough, and makes one think that the authors really liked polyhedra. Simply reading the book and working out the structure and symmetries of the various polyhedra is a delight.… (meer)
