This thoughtfully edited collection of stories comes from the respected former Chief of the Division of Anrhropology at the then National Museum of Canada, now the Canadian Museum of Civilization. About half of the stories previously had not appeared in print prior to the initial 1955 publication. Most were gathered during Jeness's ethnological field work and represent the different regions of Canada..
