Six or seven years ago I picked up a cheap Zire 31 just to learn about PDAs and to track daily expenses. I never got around to using it but rediscovered it a year ago. Now it's filled with free ebooks and games. The Palm operating system is going away so I'm learning as much as I can while I can. This book is 4 years old so most of its content deals with newer handheld models than mine but I still learned some good tips and tricks. Most of what I know about Palm handhelds comes from user websites but this book had some websites that Google missed. Even scanning the info about the newer models will help if I ever buy a another one. The next one will have to be used, as in pre-owned, of course. Smartphones are eroding the handheld market but they're expensive, the screens are too small to read, and I don't make that many phone calls. The dedicated ebook readers like the Kindle are likewise expensive, don't do games well, and I don't like their size. I'm sure I'll convert to both someday, but for the time being my Zire works great. It doesn't make phone calls, take pictures, or connect to the web but it also has no monthly fee.If you have an old handheld, consider keeping it and reading this book or one like it.… (meer)
