Her Last Letter door Nancy C. Johnson
The story revolves around three sisters - Linda, Kelly (the baby sister), and Gwyn (the oldest sister). It is written from Gwyn's perspective and her search for the truth about her baby sister's supposed accident which is actually a murder. The plot plods along for most of the book as Gwyn questions everything she knows. We learn about Gwyn's marriage to Trevor and Linda's marriage to Wolfgang. About 3/4 of the way through, the events take a decidedly quick turn and happen quickly. All of the questions are answered, but I had a difficult time relating to some of the characters and some of the events. Some of the characters definitely fit in to stereotypes. All in all, it was a quick read and I enjoyed it.… (meer)

HeatherLINC | 2 andere besprekingen | Jan 23, 2016 | Her Last Letter by Nancy C. Johnson was a rather bland mystery story about a woman who finds a note left behind by her murdered sister. The note says that the sister was having an affair with the boyfriend of one of her sisters and she was afraid he was going to kill her. As there are two sisters left alive, and both are now married to these men, they must discover the truth. Of course due to timing, there ends up actually being about four men who could have possible committed the murder, and in order to keep the reader guessing, all these men must look slightly suspicious.
By the end of the book, I really couldn’t care which one did it, they all came across as unpleasant and slightly nasty. The two women seemed naïve and gullible. The cop-out ending would have bothered me if I was invested in the book, but it wasn’t, so it didn’t. There was very little suspense build throughout the story, and it mostly seemed to be a tale of two rich women being taken advantage of.
I feel bad that the best thing I can say about this book is that at least it is cleared from my Kindle.… (meer)
