Two stars for the generic text, but four for the beautiful illustrations of a wholesome, happy family. The prayer here is a series of promises to the baby that he will be loved, blessed, and cared for. There's one sentence on each page, but (despite the illustrations showing the child growing up) don't expect the text to flow together into a story. In fact, at least one textual
transition is downright awkward: "You will be showered with many blessings along the way," is followed by, "It can and will come true." What is the "it" that will come true? I have no idea.… (meer)

This is a story about the legendary Michael Jordan. It is written by his mom and sister. It tells the story of young Michael who wanted to be taller, and his mom tells him to sprinkle salt in his shoes so that he can grow taller. Michael is determined, and he never gives up on his dreams of playing basketball. He demonstrates true passionate and commitment to the sport of basketball.

MIchael Jordan didn't always feel accepted or successful when it came to the game of basketball. He feels that quitting may be easier that continuing to feel like he isn't good enough. Michael's mother tells him that in order to achieve his dreams he needs to pray and put a little salt in his shoes. Michael continues to work hard on his game of basketball and decides to join the court again, proving to be successful.

I thought this was a nice book. I liked that it was written by his family members. I loved that Michael never gave up and how much he was able to accomplish.
