Korte biografie
Antonia Juhasz is Project Director of the International Forum on Globalization (IFG), an alliance of eighty leading international activists, scholars, economists, researchers and writers, representing over 60 organizations in 25 countries, formed in 1994 to stimulate new thinking, joint activity, and public education to counter and provide real-life alternatives to corporate-led globalization. An expert on all aspects of international trade and investment policy from the World Trade Organization (WTO) to the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA), Juhasz is co-author of the upcoming second edition of Alternatives to Economic Globalization: a Better World is Possible. She is also the author of the IFG publication; “Does Globalization Help the Poor?” Juhasz also received a Project Censored award this year for her article, “Ambitions of Empire: the Radical Reconstruction of Iraq’s Economy,” in LeftTurn magazine. This article explores the use of the military invasion of Iraq to advance a corporate globalization agenda in the entire region. She provided testimony to the New York Session of the World Tribunal on Iraq in May 2004 on the economic colonization of Iraq by the U.S. and has published several opinion pieces and articles on this topic with particular attention paid to the Bechtel Corporation of San Francisco.

An extremely disquieting book, and rightfully so, Juhasz’s expose of the Big Oil industry works forward from history as context, beginning with the industry’s origins in the United States through the government anti-trust action that broke up Standard Oil in 1911. The flawed oversight of the break-up that allowed the industry to form a cartel is next examined, ending with the castration of oversight agencies under Reagan and Bush I and the mega-mergers of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Juhasz spends the majority of the rest of the book detailing how the Oil Industry manipulates oil and gas prices, controls elections and legislation, destroys the environment, and even uses the United States to wage war for its international interests. With such widespread power, the final chapter on meaningful strategies to correct the power imbalance is necessarily somewhat meager, but what the book lacks in a general plan of action is more than made up in its clear elucidation of the manifest evils that can be attributed to the industry and its governmental, faux-scientific, and legal cronies. Somewhat graphic depictions of environmental disasters and workers’ injuries.… (meer)

Quotation from page 49/50: The three documents discussed here reveal the Bush Agenda as the cul¬mination of a radical conservative agenda for a Pax Americana, which its proponents have been waiting to implement, some for well over a decade and others for more than thirty years. If Empires have one thing in common, it is their inevitable collapse. With the Pax Romana as a model, we in America can expect an increasingly undemocratic, [50] brutal, and self-destructive government to take hold of our nation prior to its fall. George W. Bush has made a new mark on the Pax Americana legacy by adding corporate globalization policy to its arse¬nal—arguing that "free trade" will bring increased "freedom." Over the past fifty years, the record of such policies has in fact been the oppo¬site: increased inequality, economic instability, and even violence.

page 70: On February 18, 2004, the people of Zambia went on nationwide strike. Ninety percent of all of the people who work for the govern¬ment left their posts, took to the streets, and demanded reform. Their immediate focus was opposition to a wage freeze and simultaneous in¬crease in their taxes. The ultimate focus, however, was on the IMF and the World Bank and what the workers were calling the "recolonization of Zambia." Joyce Nonde, president of the Federation of Free Trade Unions of Zambia, expressed widespread sentiment when she said, "We feel that Government, through privatization of national assets, has surrendered our country into foreign hands on a silver plate and, as a union, we are prepared to stop this unfair economic arrange¬ment. ... [Privatization] is a tool being used by the IMF to recolonize [71] us. It is something being forced down our throats and therefore it is highly undemocratic."

Excellent overview of the Bush dynasty and the neocon cabal. Well researched and presented. If you think Bush is just an idiotic fluke, think again. World domination has been in the works for a long time by these scary people.
