VanessaMarieBooks | 3 andere besprekingen | Dec 10, 2023 | Business leaders face the difficult task of reconciling their personal beliefs with the bottom-line demands of their business obligations. Often, it seems like the conflict between short-term business strategies and their desire to "do the right thing" pull them in opposite directions.
Many business leaders struggle with the dilemma of being successful and living a life with purpose. God Is My CEO offers a practical and inspirational source of guidance for achieving a balanced and accomplished life.… (meer)

In a nutshell: In this book, Larry Julian, author of God is my CEO, helps readers tackle tough business-related questions with a God-centered focus. Every day we make decisions that can have a far-reaching impact on us and those around us. Are we making the right decision, how do we know what the right decision is? A few of the questions you will find addressed within the book are: "How can I keep from being overwhelmed by urgent work demands" (chapter 6) and "How do I live and communicate my faith in a diverse environment" (chapter 4). People argue about religion in the workplace all the time (this fell under the Platform heading). I loved the author's approach to this. He challenges the reader to basically let your actions speak for you. Don't impose your religion on others, and don't hide it, but rather set a good example, and when the timing is right, you will be a testament to your faith. He obviously had a lot more to say, with more wisdom, clarity and examples from life than I have shared here, but I found it to be so impactful, and something that people face all the time in the workplace. This book provides some great Christ-centered advice for some very common issues faced by people in today's business environment. Each of the chapters within the book will work together and help you to create your own "Life Plan" that will help you make those hard decisions.
Extended Review: I loved the table comparing Business Principles versus God's Principles! For example, within a business you are working to achieve some type of result, while within God's Principles, you are working to serve a greater purpose (paraphrased from the table in the introduction). My favorite chapter was the last one, the one dealing with prosperity. For many, a legacy is viewed as what you leave to your children when you die. The author has challenged my thinking to view prosperity as leaving a legacy of relationships with others, and helping to impact their lives in a positive way.
Content: Larry Julian gives us wonderful examples that fall under the following categories: Purpose, Potential, Perspective, Platform, Power, Pace, Place and Prosperity.
Format: Each chapter presents a different issue, along with a scripturally supported solution with plenty of examples and exercises to get you thinking and help you to see your direction more clearly.
Readability: Easy to read. The author has included many real-life examples that make it easier to relate to.
Overall: A good book that will help you to see yourself in a new light, and give you the ability to make decisions that are in line with your beliefs and your purpose.… (meer)

wbarker | 1 andere bespreking | Sep 10, 2009 | This was a great book with real-life stories of people in business who allowed God into their workplace and work. Many of the names of these people are well-respected leaders in the business community. Larry Julian tells the stories of two business leaders in every chapter to illustrate how God moved in their lives. The stories are often very touching and powerful.
