This one was very cute. On the more lighthearted/comedic side for the most part, but also quite sincere and heartfelt.

This sounded like it was such an excellent premise for a romance story, but I think it really suffered from being limited to a single volume. The ultimate relationship between the main characters didn’t have enough supporting it to feel satisfying, and I don’t like the turns the story had to take in order to make that work. If this was ever fleshed out into a longer series I would definitely give it a read to see if some of my issues with it were resolved. 2.5 rounded up.

***Thoughts after reading***
That was so much fun! Every side character made me laugh. The little kids were my absolute favourite though!

Sidenote: The topic it touched upon was homelessness. I don't know how Japanese people look at that but I do know that they are much more community-based instead of individual-based which I feel my culture is. It must make being homeless worse? I don't know if what I'm saying is true but for a culture where people normally don't try to stand out, and is family based, being homeless must be a certain kind of extra awful. I don't know, in my country, in theory, no one should have to be homeless. There are recourses everyone can acces. But I also know that reality doesn't work that way and our bureaucracy is such a barrier, that even perfectly 'well-adjusted' people run into problems. Let alone people who are dealing with a stressful situation.

I didn't expect to laugh at a manga that touch upon such a hard topic. I can't say it was handled well. It was too easily solved for that but I'm glad it didn't though. I can't handle those hard hitting topics very well.

⭐2.5 rounded down.

Being a teenager and having a existential crisis could go two ways:
1. Talking about it with you're friends while (insert your choice of vice here) and coming to the conclusion you were 'deep'.
2. Suffer in silence and make angsty art.

This story felt like the first choice. Which is perfect when you're a teenager but as an adult I have to say: I don't care dude.

It's a good story. Would recommend. But don't go in expecting a cute lovey-dovey story. It's a bit too messy for that.

Tangent: I thought Gorou Kanbe had a somewhat different artstyle? Less generic? Am I remembering this right?
