2.5 stars. I picked up this book because I love zombies and am from Chicagoland. But like many zombie/pandemic/apocalypse books, this story talks more about the survivors and their actions and not about the zombie horror. In this case, it wasn’t the most interesting choice. It is not a book about zombies in Chicago but about the politics of Chicago with with a few zombies tossed in and I’m not a fan of politics. I have not read any of the author’s other zombie books but this one missed the mark for me. I did like Mack’s character and I think the author did a good job of describing him (but not really the other main characters). I could hear his booming voice and see the pink, sparkly tie! I also like what he stood for, in the book and in life. We need more Macks in the world.… (meer)
