This book was about Daisy and her dog Duggie traveling the world to find out her favorite things for a painting competition. As she travels she finds out she needs something more exotic. At the end she realize her favorite place was home. She won first place because this was her best painting ever.

Almost Famous Daisy is a story about a little girl name Daisy. Daisy wants to enter a Famous Painting Competition, in which she has to paint her favorite things. Her only problem is she's not sure what her favorite thing is, so Daisy along with her brother travel around the world to find her favorite thing. This book is very cute. To me, it shows that no matter how far we travel nothing compares to home. This books also helps kids learn about some of the many different paintings in the world.

I'm inspired by Richard Kidd's book, so I can only imagine how children will feel after reading this. Daisy, our main character, travels the world in search of inspiration for her art. She wants to create art that is so great that it'll win a contest sheis going to enter. While travelling, she becomes inspred by some of the things that inspired some of the greats (van Gogh, Monet, Chagall, and Pollock). Once she gets home, she realizes the most inspirational things are at home already. She wins. Kidd's illustrations are beautiful paintings chalked full of color and texture. On some pages, we see original work, on others we see his version of the great pieces created by the artists mentioned above. These paintings help readers understand what Daisy is seeing during her travels and makes me want to create a piece of art as well.

Details: This book was written to interest children in grades K-3 and is on a 3.8 reading level.

This book is about a girl named Daisy who travels to many places painting pictures to find out what she enjoys painting the most. She paints a starry night sky like Van Gogh's "The Starry Night." But in the end Daisy discovers what she really loves to paint is in her own home.
