This is not a bad text, unfortunately it teaches a notation which is, in most departments, obsolete. I still rely on this text for good problem sets to give to students, but ultimately prefer to teach from another, with a more current notational style.

As introductions to logic goes, this is a remarkably readable guide, and the examples are often amusing. However, it does have a rather condescending tone, and there are many errors. I prefer a more mathematically rigorous approach, but this text is appropriate for both mathematics and philosophy majors.
