Oh gosh I'm giving this 2.5 rounded up to 3.
I found book 1 a mess plot and Trope wise and TBH this one I was expecting more.of the same and yep, plot just felt never ending. I thought we got close and then twist, close to end and another change in direction.
On a positive note, I loved the kids, I just wanted to hug Dylan and Searcy but the 2 MCs, Gabe and Dex, not so much and these are the characters I should have loved as the book is about them.
And again for a re release I did think the typos and errors would have been corrected.… (meer)

I absolutely loved this book. The author managed to hit so many feels with the detail oriented story. So many topics from bullying to politics were touched on which pleased me. I could have read another three hundred pages!
I... Why does this have a prologue? DNF in the prologue; not only not the story I clicked for, but the prose is not good enough to endure to get to the actual story.
My greatest problem with most prologues is that they are too far in the past and about entirely different characters (including much younger versions of MC(s) and/or they are data-dumps. That's the issue here, for me.

Hank and Reed, connection that works but on paper looks like it shouldnt. I loved Jewel and the family and the dynamic.
BUT
I felt this story had finished at 50% and then it kept going, I was aware it was a longer read but not necessarily sure it needed to be. To me it felt like we'd get to the end and another twist, plot point or trope was added.
I havent read any of this author before so maybe this is how they write. I will be reading book 2 so will see if is a pattern.
Also for a second revision there was still a few typos and errors.… (meer)
