This book should be used for grades 3-5. This beginner chapter book follows Polly Diamond and her use of her magic notebook to prepare for the school fair. The thing about her magic notebook is that everything she writes comes true and this may be more than she bargained for when her requests are more literal than she intends. There isn't really a specific way this could be used to teach anything, but it does touch on imagination and could potentially give a lesson about taking repsonsibility for your actions.… (meer)

I kept reading to know what the worst thing she ever did was. But the biggest problem with this book is that for 80% I didn't know what it was she did and because I didn't, I just didn't care about Sophie. She was annoying and whiney and bratty. The way she referred to the worst thing was dramatic and seemed like she was just being difficult. The reveal came, but it came way too late. Her sister died in a subway bombing. If it had of been revealed earlier, I would've understood where Sophie was coming from and why she was acting out. But it didn't, so I just didn't care. 2 stars.… (meer)
