The Christmas Coal Man (Carolrhoda Picture Books) door Joe Kulka

The Christmas Coal Man by Joe Kulka is a new read aloud book for Christmas. There are some great lessons in this book like having a dream and working towards it, getting rewarded for a job well done, being rewarded for being a good boy or girl, and having a consequence for being naughty. The illustrations were great. The expressions on the face of the coal man really showed his feelings. I loved the depiction of Jenny the mule, she was almost human like in her facial expressions. This was a weak 4 stars, it is really more of a 3.5 because I just think the story was too short and there was something missing. I do think children will love the story and the pictures though.

All of the animals in the forest go into hiding because the wolf is coming, but why they are hiding is the big surprise.

Wolf's Coming door Joe Kulka

This book is a great plot twist on the big bad wolf. This fantasy book is about the wolf coming and it's dark and has a eerie feeling in the beginning. It has a very happy ending with the wolf coming for a surprise birthday party because it is his birthday.
This book rhymes a and it would be a great attention grabber. I think children would really like this book. The illustrations are clear and bright.

I was looking for pig picture book for a farm story time. This was a cute twist on a big bad wolf story. The illustrations were very polished looking.
