Imo, both way too wordy and too confusing for pre-K. I loved the little sister, but that's all. The rest was too complicated, too implausible - it was more like a chopped down chapter book than a fable picture-book.

I was also annoyed that it's oversize, making sure that kids in stores and libraries will see it sticking out from the displays and shelves as if it's special. It's got that 'instant classic' thing going that I just can't abide.

The pictures were fine. The theme underneath the adventure had potential. But overall I'm displeased.… (meer)
