I read this book years ago, but found it under a bed and so I picked it up and took a peek.
Here's what I found in just the first 33 pages (no telling what the last 187 might say)
- The author insinuates that Dion Fortune had something to do with the creation of Wicca by lumping her in a list with people like Doreen Valiente.
- Lists Eclectic Wicca as a tradition and says that Eclectic Wiccans mix pantheons. No they don't, I mean, some do but what a ridiculous thing to so.
- Lists "Strega Wicca" as a tradition.
Note that she only listed 6 traditions and she choose Gardnerian, Alexandrian, Dianic, Eclectic, Hereditary, and Strega.
-Claims that all Wiccans and Pagans can get behind the 13 Principles of Belief. Really???? I challenge you Lady Sabrina to even name another Pagan religion.
- In the section about the Wiccan Rede, do you know what she lists as the Wiccan Rede? Thompson's Rede of the Wiccae. Yeah, not the same thing.
- Chapter 3 is titled "Wiccan Roots: The Celtic Druids. Do I need to say more?? Browsing through the chapter it was obvious Lady Sabrina knows less about Celtic history and myth than she does about Wicca.
That's where I put the book down. I was laughing too hard to finish.
Nobody should ever read this book except possibly as a training exercise to see who can pick out the most mistakes.
I rate it 1/2 star out of 5 because I saw a couple of things that weren't entirely incorrect.… (meer)
