I felt like I was in the whirlwind with the main character. The book was fast paced and an enjoyable read! Will be recommending this to friends.

The main character is Catherine Lambert, is a Parisian Lawyer, who just moved back to France, from working in New York, when she lands her dream job as intellectual property director for Christian Dior. She is reunited with her boyfriend Antoine. Her American friend Rikash joins her as she embarks on the ride of her life, fighting high-profile legal battles against internal counterfeiters.

I usually don’t read this type of genre [click-it] but I enjoyed this one! I definitely couldn’t put it down!! I really liked the use of description [of Paris, Catherine's new boss, her apartment, the interior of the Dior building,.. etc] If I ever visit Paris, I will definitely look around for all of the places mentioned in this book!

“The offices are decorated with neon-Louis XVI furniture and are dominated by grey, Mr. Dior’s favourite colour when he opened the famous house on avenue Montaigne back in 1947. The design is even more stunning than I remembered: both chic and understated, with lots of open space –the apex of luxury. The silk curtains dressing the window fall to the floor like ball gowns, delicate silver vases holding pink roses have been artfully placed throughout the room, and grey and white settees and oval-backed chairs provided artful seating areas.”

-page 23

I loved how the author included simple French words/sentences, it made it seem event more realistic…. “Oui, non, mon amis, bonjour, un malheur n’arrive jamais seul, c’est pas possible! …”

Although this is the sequel to J’adore New York you don’t necessarily have to read the first novel to figure out what’s happening; to be honest I didn’t even know this was the second novel in the series until I looked it up on Goodreads!

Overall, this novel was the perfect combination of fun, fabulous and entertaining! It’s definitely an exhilarating journey through high fashion! I highly recommend this if you like Click-it novels or novels like The Confessions of a Shopaholic, if you do then definitely check this one out!

Check out my Teaser Tuesday on this novel!

Happy Reading!

The Devil Wears Prada prepared you for the cutthroat world of the Fashion Industry...but did you ever stop to think where those same people got their start?

Clementine Liu knows all too well about the fans and fanatics, the competition and those that will go to the extreme to get what they want...and she's only in college. Yeah, college! Grant it, it IS the school to end all school's when it comes ot wanting access to the best of the best in the industry, but really...MUST we sharpen our nails on the backs of our classmates? Apparently for some the answer is YES...and now Clementine has to find a way to not only rescue her reputation, but her self-confidence, if she's to rise to the top and become the superstar we all know she can be. Good thing she has a few confidants to lean on, and the sound advice of family long since living...

I adored Clementine for all her quirkiness, for her ability to BE HERSELF even in the face of adversity (or hoards of black, gray, and white clad New Yorker students), and her desire to say true to her inner compass even when things seem to be spiraling out of control. Now she has a moment of two where a lapse in judgement or an overly kind heart took her away from the proverbial runway, but NOBODY'S PERFECT and sometimes those alterations are the only way to create the grand masterpieces we're meant to become. With her spunk, and spirit, she's gonna go far...even with the haters harrassing her...and that big heart of hers shines so brightly, the friends, and relationships she gathers are truly meant to be. I would love to see her site in real life because her goal, her message was all about diversity, and bringing a voice to the creator that is doing BIG THINGS, but getting a bit lost in the shuffle. She even lends that spotlight to her friends which endears them even more to her and her cause, thus allowing the pay it forward principle to march on. In short, SO much to love here! Now for a little cutting room maintenance...

For me, there were only two drawbacks. First is certainly all a matter of opinion (and perhaps my eARC edition as well), the cyberbullying. I know, it's DEFINITELY a thing nowadays and its reach is worldwide thanks to the net, but the two I was actually able to read in the book, I didn't really think much of. I mean, I get it...no one wants to be talked about especially in a negative light, but Clementine seemed like such a STRONGER characters than that. To let some measly little comment stake her versus roll off her back seemed beneath her...but again, it's all a perspective issue. To her, it was the end of the earth; to me, I say walk away, let it go, and follow Celeste's advice. Second thing...I was always waiting for the other shoe to drop. Color me cynical, but there was a lot that just seemed to come up roses for our girl. Issues at home...new school acceptance accross the pond! End of a disasterous relationship...BOOM perfectly lovely male specimen that ACTUALLY seems genuine! Lack of friends...instafriend...with a hiccup or two to keep things interesting! I'm not saying she didn't have her obstacles to face...hello uber version of MEAN GIRLS...but her life definitely wasn't just the thorns of the bush.

All in all, I enjoyed my time with "Fashion Week" a lot more than I thought I would. The characters were fresh, the diversity plentiful, the surprises forthcoming, and the payback oh so sweet. Definite recommend for Young Adult fans of all ages!

When BookSparks PR approached me about featuring J'adore New York, I was intrigued. It's not my normal sort of read and I'm not typically drawn to chick-lit but something about this book made me want to read it and not just pass on by.

I think what caught my eye was that this story is told from the point of view of a french woman, Catherine, who has transferred to New York to practice law. She is thrown into a cutthroat world of office politics, fashion, society parties and romance. Sounds... fun.

While I liked Catherine and her assistant, Rikash, I could have done without most of the other characters in the story. Catherine's co-workers are all insane, her "friends" are all snobs and her romance isn't quite what it seems. I felt so sorry for Catherine and hoped and prayed that i the end something good would happen to her. I wish there were more scenes with Rikash as they were highlights for me.

The book was an interesting look into the world of law. Long hours, hard work, backstabbing... makes me thankful I decided not to pursue a career in law (I would have been chewed up and spit out). However, at times the legal jargon got to be too much for me. I found myself starting to skim when the legalese started and had to force myself to stop.

But all that said, for a debut novel, Ms Laflèche has created a solid story. Fan of chick-lit might get more out of it than I did.
