Zodiac of Death is a collection of mini biographies of some of the most notorious killers in the 20th Century written by true crime reporter Dan Lasseter followed an explanation of their horoscope that astrologist Dana Holliday attempts to explain as fulfilling the individual’s destiny. After reading the first individual’s biography and horoscope, I instantly decided to skip all the rest of the horoscopes as I did not understand anything written and didn’t want to waste my time with the rest of the book figuring those sections out. That meant I was reading the mini biographies—basically life and crimes in “wonderful” detail—of some of the worst human beings who’ve walked the earth and frankly I wanted to get through it as quickly as possible to get this book off my shelf and to a used book store.… (meer)

Re reading. It was funny to open this book and to find few words written in it. it said this was my second English book so after y first book written in English which was Gary King's Blood Lust, I had bought this book and also very much liked it. Now I am spoiled and have read so many true crime books I am not sure I would like it as I did then but it still gives me a good feeling.

(I had to pick a physical book cause I loaned out my kindle adapter to my daughter (she also borrowed my phone which needs the same adapter) so my kindle was empty but I have so many unread real books on my shelves but of course I picked another book I had already read. ;)

Update May 29 2014

Finished last night and I can truly say and I am glad to that this book was just as good as when I first read it. I was worried that like with other re reads this book would not be the same because when I read it I was still a newbie concerning true crime reads. Gad to say I gave it 4 stars back then at bookcrossing's but I could easily give it 5 stars now.

This book is not that once you've read the first 2 chapters you do not even have to read any further because all the interesting stuff was spilled already. Yes like many books this has a prologue which I never read until I have finished, so if you skip that you will be with them when they start doing what they did and later you will get to know the victims and the 2 killers.

I even enjoyed reading about the trial so yes I think this one deserves 5 stars.

A few years ago I wrote this:

Really liked this book and planning on re reading

Update August 6 2015. Wow what a great review I wrote.NOT!

Lol.

What I do remember that this was one of the first English books I read and that I was really shocked by this and always thought of it as a very good book.

Now I am finally re reading this while reading approximately 3 other books.

This is the story about 2 sadistic selfish men who managed to lure male and women to trust them only for the men and babies to be killed and for some of the women if not all to be raped and probably tortured, filmed and then killed.

Took a photo of the picture that haunts me in the book:
This is Kathy. Kathleen Allen. One of the victims.

When I first looked at the photo I wondered "why is she looking so angry and sad posing for a photo, thinking could it be a mug shot. Only later did I realise it was one of the photo's Lake took of her!!

I have read about one third and still think it is a great book.
What I had forgotten though was that the victims in the bunker were not the first. Now I understand why they are not sure how many victims there were.

Second time reading I still think this is a very good book I am glad to say.
And I will never forget the victims, especially not Kathy.

First read 2001
