Without spoiling the plot, a cell phone tower falls in Ohio and a curious onlooker who witnessed the occurrence doesn't believe the official story about what happened. The rest of the book follows the exploits of the shadowy group that's doing bad stuff and the good guys who are trying to catch them. It's a compelling, unique story.
I'm not a big fan of the "story told from multiple perspectives" technique used by the author, but it doesn't get in the way too much and actually provides fresh insight into the thought processes of the various characters. I would have preferred a more traditional approach with a single narrator and stronger character development through flashbacks or other techniques, but all-in-all the story moves along well.
A couple other criticisms: the ending was a bit abrupt and I think a few more pages should have been devoted to tying up some of the loose ends. Also, some of the situations involving the expansion of the membership of the `cell' were a little incredible. These are minor issues, though, and I think any fan of the thriller genre would enjoy this book. Check it out!… (meer)
