This is the book where Benedict Wayborn older brother to Juliet from [b:Simply Scandalous|525737|Simply Scandalous|Tamara Lejeune|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1329109572s/525737.jpg|513581] and from [b:Surrender to Sin|1286974|Surrender to Sin|Tamara Lejeune|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1349064691s/1286974.jpg|1276047] decides to go to Bath to find himself a wife, even though he knows it wont be easy since he was mauled by a dog as a child and had to have his arm amputated below his elbow. So even though he isnt poor hes not the best matrimonial price out there.

Sir Benedict arrives in Bath a rainy evening and makes his way to his rented house wich is no 9 in Camden Place. Only he end up on the wrong side of the street and the number 6 sign of a certain Cosima Vaughns residence has been flipped over

He marvels at the impertinent behavior of the much too young and beautiful housekeeper and though Cosima is a bit flabbergasted about this strange man barging into her mothers house treating her like a servant. She decides to let him stay since the weather is horrible.

The warmest place being the kitchen she takes him there and pours him some liquour and they chat a bit.

Some more misunderstandings abounds and Benedict full of alcohol (and thinking Cosima has agreed to become his mistress) makes to kiss her,she manages to knock him out though. And promptly tells her servant to dump him in the park.Naked, and tied to a tree so he wont wander off and get hurt.

Through a series of events they discover each others identities and since Benedict is vaguely related to Cosimas mother its considered perfectly reasonable for him to escort her around Bath.

Considering the relationship is distant I am not sure this would have been accepted.

It had its funny bits like the previous books in the series, for instance the hero discovering that his valet had been coloring his hair black for 17 years.

I found the heroine to be a bit straining though
She is Irish and she likes to remind the hero and the rest of the world of this constantly.I mean its ok to take pride in your heritage and all but it was all a bit too much.

I can take feisty heroines if I can relate to them but I had a very hard time doing this with Cosima.

I wish there had been more of a struggle for the couple to get together. In this case Cosima practically throws herself into Benedicts arms (and bed)

Disappointing but not a truly horrible book.

I bought this book entirely on a whim. I needed like $2 more to get free shipping and tossed this $3.99 book in with an "Eh, why not?"

Best. Whim. Evar.

The book opens with Juliet Wayborn's brother getting the ever living snot beat out of him on the eve of a carriage race with Geoffrey Swale. Under the impression Lord Swale ordered the hit on her brother so he'd win the race, Juliet dons a man's hat and coat and races Swale herself. Embarrassed by losing to a woman and further scandalized by the spreading rumor that he paid to have Cary Wayborn attacked, Geoffrey finds himself in hot water with his duke father. The duke decides it's in the family's best interests that Geoffrey marry the very Miss Wayborn he finds so ridiculous.

Thus begins an amusing battle of wits between two strong-willed characters. Juliet's older brother, Benedict, turns down the marriage proposal, but Geoffrey goes off after Juliet to give her a piece of his mind, and to let her know he didn't want to marry her anyway. While visiting her at her aunt and uncle's home, the sparks fly. Swale breaks a glass display case full of porcelain figurines in a pique of anger. Juliet creates an inedible meal Swale can't avoid eating and calls him by the hated nickname Ginger. He's hot-headed and immature, she's strong-willed and impossible to cow, and both seem to enjoy playing this game, not that they'd admit that to anyone.

The book's strong point is its dialog. The banter between the protagonists by turns hilarious and achingly romantic. Juliet's conversations with her stern older brother show us a loving relationship more akin to father and daughter than one of a pair of siblings (I have a soft spot for older brother guardians). Most importantly, the dialog gives us a great picture of who these characters are. When Swale grudgingly tells his friend "The thing is, Alex...The thing is, I didn't mind being caught. I mean, I'm going to be caught one day. Why not by her?" it shows us volumes about Swale and his attraction to Juliet in a way a bunch of POV prose never could. I could happily quote half the book, and have gone back to reread especially touching or amusing passages.

Simply Scandalous is an incredibly fun read. Watching these two figure out that they want the same thing, and the trouble they generate in the process, makes for a satisfying read. I think this book might especially appeal to those who loved Lord of Scoundrels.

Set in Regency times, 20-year-old identical twins Patience and Prudence Waverly sail from Philadelphia to London to claim their inheritance when their last relative dies. As the elder, Patience is now a Baroness and legal guardian to her sister. A stalwart American, Patience wants nothing to do with her title. She wants to get the paperwork settled, sell the estate and head back to America. Prudence has other plans.

This was an amusing story told successfully from several viewpoints as the sisters find their feet in England, so far from home, in such a very different way of life and unwittingly involved in several plots against them and a man named Purefoy, heir to the Sutherland Dukedom. Well, except for Prudence who knowingly plots selfish mayhem. Jeez, how many times did I want to smack that bratty twit? Many. However, she makes a good foil for Patience.

This is the first book I’ve read by Tamara Lejeune, but it won’t be the last!

I thought the concept of twins leaving America to live in London had potential to be a great story. I was disappointed. While reading the book I didn’t feel that they deserved a happily ever after. I didn’t like either of the sisters. One is a spoiled, self-centered brat and the other is inflexible and unreasonable. Max is also pretty difficult to like. He starts out like a spoiled boy and then he is lying and manipulative. I thought they all deserved each other. I cannot seem to find any redeeming qualities to describe any of them.

I never really connected with any of the characters and that was disappointing. Usually at least one tugs my heart and makes me root for them. While reading this book I was hoping a supporting character would knock some sense into someone and tell them to grow up. I read to escape reality so some unbelievable circumstances don’t usually bother me and sometimes it’s even expected but some of the things that go on here just had me shaking my head. I think the characters needed to be more developed, maybe give them some good qualities and some of the outrageous behaviors could have been toned down and made more believable. The first time Max met Patience….really? I am not saying it is a bad book, I just think that it was extremely unbelievable. I did persevere to the end because I really don’t think I can give a review if I don’t read the whole thing. If you don’t mind leaving reality behind and you are just looking for a book to read this may be for you. If you want more substance and need a connection when you read I would not suggest this book for you.

I think I will look into reading another book by this author just for comparison.
